Job Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise casework, ensuring accuracy and timely completion, including statutory and court deadlines.
- Provide clear, strategic legal advice to client departments and to the wider Council to help protect its legal and financial interests.
- Support Team Leaders in advising on improvements to practice and procedure across the organisation to reduce legal risk.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (with advocacy and litigation practice rights) with strong experience in at least one of the team’s specialist areas.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and advisory skills, confidence with IT and case management systems, and a positive, solutions-focused approach.
- Ability to work well in a multi-skilled team, support the development of junior staff and apprentices, and build strong relationships with Members, client departments and external partners.
