We offer warm, family-style homes for children aged 10–18, providing individualised care tailored to each child’s needs. Our homes across Coventry are places where children can feel safe, supported and able to grow. As our service expands, this is an exciting time to join us.

What is the job role?

There are 3 key areas of skill essential to this role:

  • Overnight carer – Support children with disabilities, complex health needs and potential trauma related behaviours to develop a sleep routine within a safe, secure and nurturing environment. Attending to personal care needs as required. Contributing to individual care planning ensuring all records are maintained appropriately.
  • Relationship builder – Provide ongoing support through positive relationships and promoting the development of meaningful interaction, guided by the values of; child-centred care, respect, dignity, good parenting, independence, fulfilment, and partnership, with the ability to recognise and implement different forms of communication that meet children’s needs.
  • Educator - Sharing information with children in an accessible way, empowering them to make informed choices about their care and future.

Please Note: This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people? We welcome applications from individuals with experience working with children regardless of whether you’ve worked in residential care before. What matters most is your commitment to improving outcomes and placing children’s needs, happiness, and development at the heart of all you do.

You will have a genuine understanding of the challenges faced by children who are 'in care' or require a short break and can recognise how relationships influence their experiences when entering or leaving care. You can appreciate and respond to each child’s unique needs, delivering support across three key skill areas in a holistic and child-centred way.

Ideally, you are a driver and possess strong computer literacy, enabling you to effectively document and evidence the important work we do. You are committed to ongoing professional development and eager to take advantage of bespoke training opportunities, including support to achieve your Diploma for Residential Childcare if you haven’t already obtained it.

We’re looking for caring, enthusiastic and committed people who put children first. If you are reflective, flexible, resilient and work well in child-centred teams, we’d love to hear from you.

Working Patterns & Posts: We are recruiting for part-time 22 hours per week Waking Night Carer positions. Hours are on a fixed 9-week rota that also includes weekends and bank holidays. [For details on how the 22hr rotas operate please contact us on the email below and we will be happy to provide examples].

Please note there may also be some training opportunities where courses are delivered ‘in person’ during the day, which you will be expected to attend.

Right to Work: all candidates must have Right to Work in the UK with a minimum of 26 months remaining on their existing Right to Work. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.

Visa Restrictions: This is a 22hr per week role, and therefore it is not suitable for applicants who have a visa restricting them to a maximum of 20 hours’ work per week.
