Castle Wood School invites applications for an Assistant Headteacher committed to supporting children with complex learning needs. The role works alongside a new Headteacher and contributes to the school's leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Be part of an outstanding leadership team and develop leadership potential.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to school improvement.
- Support pupils aged 3–11 with PMLD, SLD and Autism by delivering creative and personalised learning.
- Collaborate with the Governing Body to promote pupils’ interests and advance the school’s vision of “Together, children first.”
- Engage with a supportive community of staff, governors and parents.
Qualifications and Experience
- QTS status with experience working with pupils who have a range of special needs.
- Proven track record of outstanding practice and high aspirations for all children.
- Passion for teaching and learning within the SEN field.
- Whole school leadership experience is desired.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, resilience, sensitivity and enthusiasm.
- Sound knowledge of Safeguarding procedures and the role of a leader.
- Understanding of Early Years principles.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of mainstream education and ability to translate it into SEND learning.
- Advantage: expertise in complex needs, ASC, PMLD or SLD.
