Join the Urban Traffic Management & Control (UTMC) team as a Business Administration Apprentice. You will support Engineers and Technicians, carry out business administration tasks, and help deliver innovative programmes such as smart automated technologies, drones, AI, and connected solutions. This is a fixed‑term contract of 21 months, in line with the length of the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship standard.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery and rollout of smart automated technologies across the city’s highway network.
  • Carry out day‑to‑day business administration tasks for the UTMC, Traffic Management and Street Works teams.
  • Assist Engineers and Technicians with administrative support for the operation and maintenance of traffic signals, cameras and variable message signs.
  • Administer data, reports and documentation that underpin the control of the city’s traffic network.
  • Provide administrative support for the planning and execution of innovative projects, such as the integration of drones and AI solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth communication and coordination.

Qualifications

  • Right to work in the UK – sponsorship is not available.
  • Motivated, hardworking and eager to contribute to a public‑service delivery.
  • Good communication skills, able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Comfortable using IT systems in an office‑based environment.
  • Relevant Completion of a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship or equivalent is required.
