The Planning and Performance Directorate is at the heart of the City Council, helping us drive performance and understand how we can best meet the diverse needs of our residents and deliver effective services. We are leading the use of data and technology to support the Council's work, exploring how improved data and technology can enhance our processes and make it easier for residents to access the support they need.
The Performance and Insights Team champions a culture of better decisions using data, evidence and engagement across the city and the Council. The team consists of over twenty analysts brought together from around the organisation with different backgrounds and skills to support services to deliver data-driven change. As a Data Apprentice, you’ll help turn raw information into insights that genuinely shape the lives of Coventry residents. You’ll join a dynamic, curious and innovative team where no two days look the same. Expect to collaborate with analysts, technical specialists and community-focused teams while building your skills from the ground up.
You’ll learn how to:
- Work with colleagues and partners to understand what data they need
- Team up with technical experts to create real solutions
- Build dashboards and visuals that anyone can understand

Applicants aged 16‑18: GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent. If not, you will be required to complete Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English as part of the apprenticeship.
Applicants aged 19+: GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent, or Functional Skills Level 2. If not, you must achieve a minimum of Functional Skills Entry Level 3 as part of the assessment process. You will be given the option to undertake Functional Skills Level 2 in maths and/or English if you wish.
