Coundon Primary School, CV6 1FQ
Contract Type: Part Time Permanent
Salary Range: £22,274 to £23,563
As our School Administrative Assistant, you will be a key member of our school office team and play an important role in the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of Coundon Primary School. You will often be the first point of contact for pupils, parents, prospective families, visitors and members of the wider community. As such, you will be instrumental in creating that all-important first impression of our school, providing a warm, welcoming and highly professional service to everyone who contacts or visits us.
This is a busy, varied and rewarding role. Alongside providing an excellent front-of-house service, you will undertake a range of administrative duties, respond to telephone and face-to-face enquiries, maintain accurate records, support communication with families and staff, and contribute to the effective organisation of the school office.
Working in a primary school means that no two days are the same. You may be welcoming a new family one moment, supporting a pupil or parent the next, before responding to an urgent request from a member of staff. You will therefore need to be able to manage competing priorities, remain calm under pressure and respond professionally and sensitively to a wide range of situations.
As part of our office team, you will also have an important responsibility for maintaining confidentiality and supporting the school’s safeguarding procedures, ensuring that the safety and wellbeing of our children remains at the heart of everything we do.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will be highly organised, proactive and able to use their initiative. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the confidence to communicate effectively with children, parents, colleagues, visitors and external professionals.
As one of the first people our families and visitors will meet, you will understand the importance of providing an outstanding first impression. We want someone who will greet people with a smile, listen carefully, communicate sensitively and represent Coundon Primary School with professionalism and pride.
You will need to be confident using IT and administrative systems, have excellent attention to detail and be able to work accurately whilst managing your responsibilities. There will be occasions when you are dealing with sensitive information, worried parents or unexpected situations, so discretion, good judgement, confidentiality and the ability to remain calm and solution-focused are essential.
Above all, we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people, has a positive “can-do” attitude and wants to become an active and valued member of our school community. You will share our high expectations and our commitment to our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Kindness, helping us to provide the very best possible experience for our children and families.
The closing date for applications is midnight on Monday 21st September 2026.
Our workforce data shows that men and people from minority ethnic backgrounds are under-represented; we encourage applicants from these backgrounds to apply. This does not prevent individuals with or without other protected characteristics as set out within the Equality Act 2010 from applying for this post.
Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS, all relevant safeguarding and pre‑employment clearances, and the receipt of two satisfactory references.
Following recommendations from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) for an additional pre-employment check with effect from 1 Sept 2022, please note, an online search may form part of this recruitment process.
