Coventry Building Society Group is growing its Corporate & Commercial Banking business in a deliberate and responsible way, focused on building strong, values led relationships with corporate clients. This role is suited to an experienced corporate banker who enjoys complex lending, thoughtful risk-taking and long-term client partnerships, and who wants to help grow a business that is safe, sustainable and aligned to mutual values rather than short-term shareholder pressure.
The role holder will originate, structure and manage a portfolio of corporate clients, leading relationships and delivering lending solutions typically above £15m, including more complex club and syndicated transactions. Working closely with colleagues across Risk, Credit, Legal, Product and the wider Group, they will bring clarity and sound judgement to complex credit decisions from initial discussion through to drawdown. They will also build trusted relationships with advisors and introducers, act as an ambassador for the Group in the market, and balance customer needs, risk and return while enjoying real autonomy within a collaborative, accountable team environment.

Location: We support hybrid working, with time split between home, Coventry or Manchester offices, and meeting clients when it matters.

About you
For this role you’ll need to have:
- Demonstrated experience in corporate credit, with the capability to structure and deliver complex lending transactions across a range of sectors
- Ability to explain complex information clearly and accessibly to diverse audiences, adapting style to suit different perspectives and levels of understanding
- Sound judgement and resilience, with the ability to stay calm, balanced and effective in pressured or ambiguous situations
- Strong understanding of risk, with confidence to make considered decisions while respecting governance and different viewpoints
- Commitment to building inclusive, trusted and long-term relationships with clients, advisers and colleagues
- Curiosity about sectors, ESG and the positive impact banking can have on people, communities and the wider economy
Experience in these areas would be helpful:
- Sector expertise in social housing, real estate, healthcare, renewables or infrastructure
- Established professional network across advisers, intermediaries or specialist sectors
- Experience in syndicated lending
