About the role
Coventry Building Society has an exciting new role for a Senior Portfolio Management Officer to join CIDO.
The role holder will facilitate and support multiple delivery disciplines within the portfolio, including risks, dependencies, finances, and resources, ensuring adherence to best practices. Working closely with distributed and central PMO colleagues and the CIDO delivery community at all levels, they will support effective change delivery and implement metrics to assess progress. This includes ensuring adherence to Data Standards, following the centralised Delivery Framework, and optimising the use of Jira.
The Senior Portfolio Management Officer helps ensure the focus on the ‘right work’, overseeing continuous improvement and providing early feedback on initiatives at a macro level. They assist the Portfolio Leadership Team in making necessary adjustments to meet targets. The role also supports coordination across CIDO portfolios, maintaining alignment between strategy and execution, and fostering operational excellence.

You’ll be passionate about ensuring CIDO and CBS deliver excellent results by supporting business goals and understanding how decisions and dependencies impact delivery.
To succeed in this role, you should demonstrate:
- Expertise in coordinating among the Central Programme Office, project teams, and key stakeholders, including organizing forums, meetings, setting agendas, and documenting insights, decisions, and minutes. Ensuring all programme documentation is current, accessible, and compliant with standards.
- Ability to implement Programme cadence by scheduling leadership meetings, resolving conflicts proactively, and capturing key insights and actions. Ensuring clear ownership and follow-up for all actions.
- Skills in managing distribution lists and communication channels for various forums and audiences.
- Proficiency with the Strategic Programme Management tool and related enterprise tools, including understanding of security and access controls.
- Experience in data governance and integrity, overseeing user onboarding, access, data quality, and recency.
- Capability to manage tool configurations, enhancements, data import/export, and generate reports to inform project and resource decisions.
- Experience in developing communication strategies aligned with M&A integration goals, creating materials like presentations, newsletters, FAQs, and updates to convey progress and key messages.
Desirable skills include:
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions and large change programmes.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, with attention to detail and a drive for quality and standards.
- Programme management skills, including risk, dependency, issue, and assumption management, as well as planning and coordinating stakeholder engagement activities.
