We’re looking for a talented Legal Counsel to join our General Counsel Function, supporting the business with high-quality legal advice across a wide range of matters. In this role, you’ll play a key part in advising on retail products, ensuring they are developed, launched, and managed in line with legal & regulatory requirements and our risk appetite. Working as part of the Products & Customer team, you’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders across Current Accounts & Savings, as well as colleagues across the General Counsel Function and the wider business.
You’ll provide pragmatic, commercially focused guidance, helping teams navigate legal and regulatory complexity while enabling business objectives. From responding to stakeholder queries to supporting governance forums and managing external counsel, you’ll be at the centre of decision-making that shapes our customer offering and protects the organisation.
We operate on a team led hybrid approach with at least 1 day a week in the Coventry & / or Manchester office.

With strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills, you’re comfortable influencing decisions and contributing to positive outcomes. Essential:- Qualified lawyer with relevant post-qualification experience
- Experience within financial services (or with FS clients)
- Strong experience providing clear, practical legal advice in a complex environment
- Excellent drafting, analytical, research, and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience identifying and managing legal and compliance risks
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Knowledge of retail products, particularly of Current and Savings accounts
- Broad legal knowledge alongside a specialism in Current and Saving accounts
- Experience working with Product and Operational teams
- Exposure to governance forums and cross-functional projects
- Track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives
