Our AML team is responsible for ensuring the Society’s compliance with regulations by operating defences in relation to money laundering, Sanctions and terrorist financing. We are now recruiting a Customer Due Diligence Analyst to join them. This is a 12 month opportunity.

The role holder will be responsible for conducting comprehensive due diligence (including Enhanced Due Diligence) reviews on Retail and Business Banking clients and counterparties. This will include assessing operational legitimacy, ownership structures and commercial activity for Business Banking clients. They will also complete customer risk assessments, identifying where Enhanced Due Diligence is required in accordance with the Money Laundering Regulations, and manage the customer within the risk appetite of the Society. Using a variety of sources, including publicly available sources, and through interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, such as other regulated firms and law enforcement, investigations will need to be documented accordingly to evidential standards, and provide recommendations for outcomes on investigations based on sound, verified evidence for approval. This will include, where appropriate, making disclosures under the prescribed and most appropriate format to the National Crime Agency (NCA).

This role operates Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm and once up to speed the team operate on a hybrid basis and are on-site at least 1 day a week either in our Coventry or Manchester office.

To be successful you’ll need experience in hands on high volume CDD/KYC or Due Diligence including investigations and an understanding of corporate structures and you’ll be able to evidence when you’ve conducted and completed investigations with good decision making and time management skills, and have the ability to analyse conflicting information. You’ll be comfortable in a customer focused, fast paced and ever changing environment, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

To be successful in this role it’s essential you have:

  • Current experience of Customer Due Diligence/Enhanced Due Diligence in 1LOD from a banking background
  • Experience of transaction monitoring and SARs.
  • Evidence of working with stakeholders at all levels, with the ability to persuade and influence
  • An ability to interpret complex issues, good communication and strong decision making skills
  • Investigative, analytical and problem solving skills, able to assess information objectively and deliver solutions that are appropriate and fair
  • Confidence in the use of computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirable experience will be:

  • Experience and understanding of the importance of customer care
  • Industry recognised qualifications such as the ICA Certificate in Anti-Money Laundering or be prepared to undertake one
  • A solid understanding of the current legislative and regulatory environment
