About the role
We're looking for a proactive and reliable individual to join our Group Protective Security Operations Centre (GSOC) as a Security and Control Room Operator. Based at our Coventry head office, the person in post will play a central role in delivering effective protective security operations, contributing to the safety and security of our people, assets and premises. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to operate within a dynamic, technology‑enabled environment that goes beyond traditional security roles.
The role holder will be responsible for monitoring and operating CCTV, intruder alarms and access control systems, ensuring all incidents are identified and responded to in a timely and effective manner. As part of a 24/7 control room function, the person in post will act as the first point of contact for all security‑related matters, managing incidents, coordinating responses, liaising with emergency services and key stakeholders, and maintaining accurate records through security systems.
In addition, the person in post will support the wider security function by maintaining service levels across systems, processes and procedures, and contributing to the organisation’s overall security strategy. The role holder will conduct site patrols and attend premises where required, while delivering a professional and customer‑focused service to colleagues, visitors and partners. They will also ensure compliance through accurate record‑keeping, including audit trails, incident logs and security documentation in line with regulatory and organisational standards.
Our Security Operations Centre operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The shift pattern includes days and nights, using 12 hours shifts, with 4 shifts on and 4 shifts off.

About you
For this role it’ll be important that you can engage with a diverse range of people. For this role you’ll need to have:
- Current or recent experience working with CCTV systems and security alarm systems
- Experience of multi-site security operations in a medium to large public sector environment
- Excellent observation and strong communication skills, verbal and written
- Good customer service experience
- IT skills
Experience in these areas would be helpful:
- Experience security control room operations
- Experience from a retail or financial services environment
- An SIA Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licence is not essential for the role as the qualification will be provided to the suitable candidate.
