The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.

This role is for someone with lived experience of receiving support from an Early Intervention for Psychosis service, who feels comfortable using their experiences to show empathy and understanding to help others and to inspire hope and recovery. As this role is within a community setting, we are looking for someone who has resilience, great communication skills and who is willing to utilise and share their lived experiences to support others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Share personal experiences of recovery and coping to build connection and provide support.
  • Ensure that the person accessing the service understands and has a clear pathway of care across sector/agency boundaries with key contact points/named staff.
  • Work effectively as a member of a team to engage individuals in a number of activities and engagement with services.
  • Support people accessing services to identify their recovery pathway and ways in which they can achieve their own goals.
  • Support the team in implementing care-planned interventions, including those supporting families and carers.
  • Provide practical support to people in developing and managing dignity and independence.
  • Support people accessing services with issues around benefits, housing and welfare rights.
  • Provide support with daily living.
  • Provide information on health promotion.
  • Promote involvement within the service for the person accessing services and carer (friends and family).
  • Maintain a flexible approach to encourage engagement.
  • Gain advice and support when needed with team practitioners and team managers and attend regular supervision in accordance with Trust policy, to ensure care and safety is maintained.
  • Offer occasional input to lived experience forums within the local area to support shared good practice of your lived experience and professional role.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Lived experience of receiving support from an Early Intervention for Psychosis service.
  • Resilience and strong communication skills.
  • Willingness to utilise and share personal lived experiences to support others.

Competencies

  • Empathy, understanding, and ability to inspire hope and recovery in others.
  • Capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team and engage with individuals across sector/agency boundaries.

Training and Support

The appointed candidate will undertake further training such as PSW training and Care Certificate. Completion of the 2-day introduction to PSW via the Recovery and Wellbeing Academy is extremely advantageous prior to interview. The PSW will be supported by the Senior PSW to safely navigate and thrive in the role and work alongside teams to help engage and deliver services and promote recovery.
