Job Title: Educational Mental Health Practitioner / Children\’s Wellbeing Practitioner

To work within The Mental Health in Schools Team, offering assessments and interventions in various settings, evaluating mental health care for children, young people, and their families in line with guidelines. Responsibilities include providing consultation, joint work, training, and advice to schools and agencies to ensure positive outcomes. Managing caseloads requiring CBT interventions, supporting low intensity practitioners (EMHPs), and providing clinical supervision are key aspects. The role also involves leading Whole School and College Approaches, engaging with schools, and supporting EMHPs in delivering these initiatives.

Travel between schools is essential, so access to a vehicle is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess mental health needs of referred children and young people.
  2. Identify needs and facilitate access to appropriate services.
  3. Promote and safeguard wellbeing in accordance with standards.
  4. Plan and manage programmes for children and families, collaborating with other professionals.
  5. Advise on suitable services based on assessed needs.
  6. Work in partnership with adult mental health services for ongoing needs.
  7. Manage own caseload independently.
  8. Conduct online appointments and participate in case reviews.
  9. Engage in continuous professional development and research-based practice.
  10. Develop specialist knowledge in working with children and families.
  11. Hold a caseload of children with moderate mental health needs, working collaboratively with other disciplines.
  12. Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop care plans with measurable goals.
  13. Support and supervise EMHPs in delivering low intensity interventions.
  14. Ensure care plans are outcome-focused and regularly monitored.
  15. Coordinate care delivery and support service planning.
  16. Provide training and assessments for staff and trainees.
