Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust is looking for a nurse to lead the Children’s agenda in Safeguarding. This is a highly skilled role where the appointed Named Nurse will lead the Trust Safeguarding Children’s agenda with innovation, knowledge, passion, and dedication. A strategic approach, along with excellent communication and leadership skills, is essential.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Supporting the Head of Safeguarding and the safeguarding team.
  • Working across local health and social care economies to prevent harm and facilitate multi-professional interagency working in respect of safeguarding children.
  • Ensuring the Trust implements the elements of the Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together 2023, Children and Social Work Act 2017, and the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
  • Providing clinical leadership across the field of safeguarding children.
  • Liaising across agencies to contribute to and develop child safeguarding practice, supervision, education, accountability, governance, and provision of expert advice.
  • Working collaboratively to provide high-quality evidence-based services to support effective inter-disciplinary and inter-agency relationships.
  • Providing and receiving highly complex, sensitive, and/or contentious information.

  • Providing oversight of Named professional staff in safeguarding advice.
  • Participating in and promoting multi-agency working.
  • Using research and audit skills to evaluate and improve standards of practice.
  • Supporting the organisation in its clinical governance role.
  • Working across agencies to develop preventive strategies around abuse and neglect.
  • Utilising high-level communication skills for sensitive information.
  • Applying knowledge of current legislation to complex safeguarding concerns.
  • Organising, prioritising, and managing own workload pressures.

Person Specification:

Qualifications include a relevant professional qualification: Registered Nurse (adult, children, mental health, learning disability).

Knowledge required includes:

  • In-depth knowledge of children's safeguarding and domestic abuse issues.
  • Understanding of current government and NHS policy.
  • Knowledge of Adult Safeguarding/Think Family.

Experience required includes:

  • Demonstrable experience at senior management or professional equivalent.
  • Experience in the Safeguarding of Children/Adults.
  • Management/oversight of staff.
