An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinician passionate about digital to act as a Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) coordinating and carrying out clinical safety activities throughout the lifecycle of digital transformation projects, including the procurement of a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR). We seek an individual with knowledge in Clinical Safety Compliance and Risk Management who will be the point of contact for all matters relating to clinical safety.
Main duties of the job:
- Ensure Clinical Safety is considered throughout the lifetime of the programme, identifying and mitigating associated clinical risks.
- Ensure compliance to the mandatory Clinical Safety standards DCB0160.
- Create all necessary documentation as part of the Clinical Risk Management Plan.
- Report, investigate and resolve any clinical safety incidents.
- Promote and increase awareness of clinical safety activities across the organisation.
Job responsibilities:
The CSO will ensure safety is maintained throughout the lifecycle of digital transformation projects, including procurement of a new EPR system, and ensure the Trust is compliant with NHS clinical risk management standards DCB0160 and DCB0129. The CSO will report, investigate and resolve clinical safety incidents, making recommendations on the safety of health IT systems. The CSO will be an active member of the Clinical Digital Team, promoting and increasing awareness of clinical safety activities across the organisation and wider health community.

Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- Clinical professional registration, NMC, GMC, HCPC.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Experience:
- Extensive clinical experience in a care setting.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in implementing health IT systems.
- Highly developed knowledge of care settings and understanding of different services and roles involved in delivering care.
- Knowledge of the DCB0160 and DCB0129 standards.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines, under pressure and prioritise own work streams.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in informal teams.
- Ability to interpret and operationalise guidance/policy.
Other:
- Ability to travel independently as and when required to fulfil the role.
