The Chief Nursing Officer is a key member of the Executive Team and Board, responsible for providing strategic professional leadership across nursing, allied health professions, quality and regulatory standards. The role works collaboratively with executive and operational colleagues to ensure services are safe, effective, responsive and continuously improving. The Chief Nursing Officer will also act as a visible professional leader across the organisation, championing inclusion, psychological safety, staff voice and compassionate care.
Main Duties of the Role
- Provide executive leadership for nursing, AHPs, quality and risk management
- Lead professional standards and quality governance across the Trust
- Promote compassionate, inclusive and values-led leadership
- Ensure delivery of safe, effective and high-quality services
- Lead safeguarding, patient experience and quality improvement
- Support workforce wellbeing, professional development and staff engagement
- Build strong partnerships across the Integrated Care System and the West Midlands region
- Provide assurance to the Board regarding professional standards, quality and regulatory compliance

Person Specification
- Registered Nurse (MR or LD) qualification
- Current NMC registration
- Significant senior nursing leadership experience
- Board-level experience
- Masters Degree Leadership Qualification
- Significant experience within mental health/LD/autism/community services
- Experience leading quality governance
- Experience of organisational transformation
- Experience of partnership working across systems
- Experience leading cultural improvement
- Experience working with regulators
