The predicted salary is between 48000 - 72000 £ per year.

This is a new post that has come about as a result of service development. You will join a well-established Core 24 team covering a large teaching hospital in Coventry and two smaller district general hospitals in Warwick and Nuneaton. This post will cover George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton with minimal cross cover at the other sites. We see age 17+ and have additional dementia psychiatrist support onsite.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with a dedicated mental health liaison team based at George Eliot Hospital (GEH). The service accepts referrals of patients of all ages over 17. Although the Consultant will be based in Coventry, there will be an expectation that the consultant will work flexibly across acute sites. Objectives of the service are to provide effective liaison between service providers in the Mental Health Trust and the Acute Hospital Trusts. The team will provide effective liaison between the Mental Health services and emergency departments, acute inpatient wards and elderly care wards and provide medical leadership and clinical supervision for the Liaison Team.

Person Specification

  • GMC registration and inclusion on the specialist register in Mental Health or Specialty Trainees within 6 months of completing CCT.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry e.g. Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Eligible for Approved Clinician status and Approval under section 12 of the Mental Health Act.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
