Position Summary: Provides professional nursing care within an outpatient clinic setting and coordinates care planning with other disciplines as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
- Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.
- Precepts new employees/students as needed.
- Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with office manager or clinical instructor/supervisor.
- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives and infection control policies.
- Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment.
- Accurately records history and performs basic triage procedures per policy.
- Creates nursing history and discusses recommendations for appropriate interventions to appropriate practitioner.
- Demonstrates clinical expertise and knowledge to resolve complex patient/management/physician problems independently.
- Uses AIDET communication fundamentals to ensure patient comfort and privacy.
- Assists providers with examinations, procedures and other direct patient care activities.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment during patient visits.
- Ensures accuracy of patient medical records, maintains reports, records, and statistics.
- Manages supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper maintenance.
- Inspects clinical area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, taking corrective action when needed.
- Schedules outside patient appointments as per physician instructions and communicates details accurately to patients.
- Relays hospital/nursing home calls and test results to practitioners promptly.
- Completes medical orientation checklist and initiates patient education.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
- Implements care based on diagnosis and physician orders.
- Problem-solves and coordinates clinic patient care under physician supervision.
- Performs age-specific care skills, maintaining professional growth through seminars and workshops.
- Participates as part of a team in delivering comprehensive patient care.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: None specified; sufficient to meet licensing and certification standards as required by the issuing authority.
- Minimum Experience: At least three (3) years of professional nursing experience.
- Licensure Requirement: Valid Tennessee RN license. CPR and OSHA training annually.
