Our team of health care professionals is focused on providing specialized Emergency care and urgent treatments in a community hospital setting. The Licensed Practical Nurse is an integral member of the ED team and provides a wide variety of nursing care to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families to make a positive difference toward their health and well-being. Description Description: The Registered Orthopedic Technician utilizes expert comprehensive skills to assess, plan and coordinate the evaluation of the patient using nursing knowledge and application and removal of casts, splints and traction apparatus. The incumbent will provide quality patient care through implementation, coordination, consultation, education and liaising with the interdisciplinary team. The Registered Orthopedic Technician acts as a resource to other health care professionals. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement. Classification: Orthopaedic Technician Union: COV AUPE AUX Unit and Program: Emergency Primary Location: Grey Nuns Community Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.70 Posting End Date: 16-JUN-2025 Employee Class: Regular Part Time Date Available: 21-AUG-2025 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 42 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $35.70 Maximum Salary: $47.02 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) specifying the Advanced Orthopedic area of specialized practice is required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopedic Technician program. In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (both walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment. Number of hours per shift and shifts per cycle is for information purposes only. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in an emergency department. Previous experience in an Acute Care, Cast Clinic, Med/Surg. Preference will be given to those with one or more of the following certifications: ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, and EPIC. Experience and ability to work with cardiac monitors preferred. Dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation of ECG’s preferred. Experience with Connect Care EHR an asset.
