Description The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides basic nursing care to patients/residents as directed, assists with activities of daily living, and performs other activities necessary to meet the personal needs of patients/residents. The HCA maintains and promotes patient/resident safety, comfort, privacy, dignity, and independence, and performs duties to maintain an aesthetic environment. This role is responsible for providing care in accordance with established standards and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies, and procedures of Covenant Health. It is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement. Students enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have completed: Continuing care or medicine unit placement Year 1 of practical nursing or Year 2 of baccalaureate/psychiatric nursing program Knowledge and experience with medication assistance Candidates in progress may be considered with proof of active enrollment. Must be physically able to assist with patient/resident care and transport, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting. Must understand written and verbal directions in English. Additional Qualifications Active registration with Alberta Health Care Aid Directory. Preferred Qualifications Recent acute care experience.
