We have an exciting opportunity to join us here at Cova Insurance as a Schemes Assistant Underwriter, within our Commercial Lines Team! This is a hybrid position, combining the best of both worlds - working from home and spending time in our Halifax or Reading office. Join the Commercial Schemes team that specialises exclusively in schemes underwriting - offering expert insight, consistent decisions and a reliable 24-hour SLA for all referrals.

What does a day-to-day look like?

  • Learn the basics of underwriting support broker referrals and underwriting decisions in line with Cova’s appetite, working closely with experienced underwriters and escalating when needed.
  • Build relationships work with broker partners and internal teams, building confidence and communication skills as you go.
  • Support trading activity help with day-to-day trading tasks and team initiatives, learning what good looks like and contributing to team performance.
  • Spot trends help track and share simple underwriting and pricing trends, supporting analysis led by senior colleagues.
  • Get involved in projects support portfolio activity such as large loss reviews, reporting, and flood checks, gaining exposure across the business.
  • Follow processes keep records accurate and up to date, making sure all work follows Cova’s systems and procedures.
