We have an ambitious anddynamic PE department committed to delivering high-quality teaching and inspiring pupils to engage, achieve and thrive across thecurriculum. Our team of seven specialist teachers bring a wealth of expertise,combining traditional and progressive teaching methods to create a vibrant andinclusive learning environment.
The PE department benefits from an excellent range of dedicatedindoor and outdoor facilities and offers a wide variety of sports, fitness andextra-curricular activities. Beyond the PE curriculum, the department plays animportant role in the wider life of the school. The team works closely with ourprimary feeder schools, and engages with a wide range of cross-curricular workwithin the school.
The successful candidate will be keen to contribute to a culturewhere pupils are encouraged to participate, progress and take pride in theirachievements. You will be passionate about developing extra-curricular sportsfor all abilities to inspire pupils to challenge themselves, improving theirskills and discover an enjoyment of sport and physical activity bothindividually and as part of a team.
We are looking to appoint a colleague who will:
- Engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge pupilsin order for them to excel academically
- Haverelentlessly high expectations of themselves and pupils
- Have excellent subject knowledge
- Be willing to teach across the full age rangeof pupils; year 7 to year 11
- Enhance the quality of teaching and learningin the Department and wider school through sharing resources and goodpractice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and activeparticipation in continuing professional studies programme
- Teach a standard timetableallocation
- Make a positive contribution to the efficientrunning of the Department, including, setting and marking examinations,attending departmental meetings and undertaking administrative and othertasks as delegated by the Curriculum Leader
- Activelysafeguard and promote the welfare of all children
- Supportthe schools' aims and objectives for teaching and learning
- Adhereto and promote all school policies and procedures
Person Specification:
- Good degree in a directlyrelated subject (desirable)
- Thorough knowledge of the(11-16) subject Curriculum up to GCSE
- Recognised teachingqualification, such as QTS, PGCE, or equivalent experience
- Awareness of Safeguardingrequirements and good practice
- Good level of IT literacy
- Be capable of deliveringinspirational and adaptive lessons to the full age and ability range of pupilsat the school
- Be able to demonstrate apositive and authoritative rapport with pupils
- Have excellent and effectiveclassroom management skills
- Have excellent communicationskills to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitors
- Be organised andself-motivated, with a proven record for meeting targets and deadlines
