Our Art Department are lookingfor an enthusiastic and creative Art Teacher with a love of educationto join the team to encourage all pupils to make progress in this subject no mattertheir ability. There are currently four specialist teachers who enjoy arange of adaptive teaching approaches, both contributing to the academic andpastoral life of the school.
The Art Department is a strongdepartment which consistently achieves good outcomes. We offer Fine Art, 3DArt, Textile Art and Photography. A well-resourced department; the subject istaught in three well-equipped, specialist art rooms, one of which houses a kilnroom. We also have two part-time Art Technicians working with the department.The Art department run excellent trips for pupils such as visits to Kew Gardensand a day of inspiration in Brighton.
We are looking to appoint a colleague who will:
- Engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge pupilsin order for them to excel academically
- Haverelentlessly high expectations of themselves and pupils
- Have excellent subject knowledge
- Be willing to teach across the full age rangeof pupils; year 7 to year 11
- Enhance the quality of teaching and learningin the Department and wider school through sharing resources and goodpractice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and activeparticipation in continuing professional studies programme
- Teach a standard timetableallocation
- Make a positive contribution to the efficientrunning of the Department, including, setting and marking examinations,attending departmental meetings and undertaking administrative and othertasks as delegated by the Curriculum Leader
- Activelysafeguard and promote the welfare of all children
- Supportthe schools’ aims and objectives for teaching and learning
- Adhereto and promote all school policies and procedures
Person Specification:
- Good degree in a directlyrelated subject (desirable)
- Thorough knowledge of the(11-16) subject Curriculum up to GCSE
- Recognised teachingqualification, such as a PGCE, or equivalent experience
- Awareness of Safeguardingrequirements and good practice
- Good level of IT literacy
- Be capable of deliveringinspirational and adaptive lessons to the full age and ability range of pupilsat the school
- Be able to demonstrate apositive and authoritative rapport with pupils
- Have excellent and effectiveclassroom management skills
- Have excellent communicationskills to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitors
- Be organised andself-motivated, with a proven record for meeting targets and deadlines
