We are seeking a committed, highly organised and qualified teacher to fulfil the role of Assistant SENDCo. The successful candidate will work closely with the current SENDCo to support the strategic development of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision across the school, ensuring that all pupils receive the support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

The successful candidate will work alongside the SENDCo to support pupils with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities, while promoting an inclusive learning environment where every student can achieve their full potential. At Cove we have a specialist unit for the deaf and hearing loss, as well as an extensive team trained in a wide range of specialist therapies.

The Learning Support area has recently been relocated to a larger facility and now includes specialists’ rooms for reading, online independent learning, sensory therapy etc. The learning support has an additional large area used at various times for examinations, however, this is also used for small group intervention work. The learning support team are a key resource to support our specialist mental health team and ELSA. Due to the above national average number of EHCPs and SEN-K students, two SENDCo are required to best manage the workload. Both SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo are supported by a full-time administrator.

Although the requirement to hold the NPQS SENDCo qualification would be desirable, this is not essential and training would be offered via the national college.
