Join us as a Mortgage Specialist Lead at Coutts. We’re looking for a Mortgage Specialist Lead to take direct line management responsibility for leading, coaching and performance managing a team of mortgage specialists across a balanced business scorecard.
Day-to-day, you’ll support the delivery of Coutts’ strategic priorities, helping to achieve growth ambitions while maintaining strong risk discipline, excellent client outcomes and a respectful, diverse and inclusive team culture. This is an opportunity to demonstrate your leadership capability, commercial judgement and client focus, while influencing how we deliver high-quality mortgage solutions for Coutts clients.
What you’ll do
- Your daily duties will include managing the risks that exist within your business area, making sure effective mechanisms are in place to identify, report, manage and mitigate risk within defined risk appetite.
- You’ll also provide continuous improvement feedback to help strengthen services, processes and client solutions.
- We’ll expect you to coach, lead and performance manage your team, sharing best practice to deliver strong client outcomes, achieve agreed targets and effectively manage business performance.
- You’ll also help deliver excellent client service, measured through client experience outcomes.
- You’ll be responsible for overseeing the line management, development and performance of the team, making sure actions and behaviours are aligned to our purpose and values.
- Helping deliver the strategic direction of the Coutts client group, enabling sustainable growth while operating within risk appetite.
- Providing visible and inspiring leadership across your team, communicating clearly and consistently with colleagues.
- Supporting the delivery of strategic, commercial and client objectives across the region, Coutts and Private Banking, making sure plans remain fit for purpose over the longer term.
The skills you’ll need
- To be successful in this role, you’ll need significant experience in banking or financial services, with a strong understanding of mortgages, financial markets and relevant products.
- You’ll also bring a proven track record of client relationship management, business development and delivering strong outcomes in a regulated environment.
- Additionally, you’ll have experience of delivering advice in a regulated environment, with the relevant mortgage or investment qualifications at level four or six.
- You’ll also have experience of leading, motivating and developing teams to maximise client service, commercial performance and colleague engagement.
- You’ll need experience of developing, interpreting, evaluating and applying risk management policies and procedures.
- The ability to support, coach and develop others through effective leadership, feedback and performance management.
- Strong relationship management, client service, influencing, negotiating and communication skills.
