We are looking for Children's Support Workers/Carers to join our team who have a passion for providing a high standard of support that enables young people to learn and develop through education and positive life experiences, stay healthy and most importantly, have a fun, fulfilling life.

Location: Rushden, Northamptonshire (NN10 postcode)

Hours: 42 hours per week, including long days, late shifts and sleep ins.

About you

Are you enthusiastic, compassionate and committed to supporting young people in their daily life? For Support Worker positions although an understanding of the role is desirable, it is not essential as training will be provided. However, it is desirable to:

  • Hold or be working towards a NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Have previous experience supporting children in a residential setting.

The role

You will provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower our young people to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone's individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they wish, in line with their individual support plans. You will need to be able to complete a range of records and documents.

Promote the health, well-being, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual beliefs of the people supported and ensure they are met in an inclusive way. Facilitating social, educational and play or recreational activities of their choice. Supporting them to maintain contact with families or significant others is a key priority.

The role requires you to undertake all aspects of day-to-day household tasks such as cleaning, cooking and shopping. Our young people also need to be supported to manage their personal care and hygiene.

About The Service

Our four-bed residential home for children, aged 5 – 17 years, is registered with OFSTED and offers services to young people who have learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and complex needs. We are situated in the residential area of Rushden, close to local resources and facilities.

Our home has recently been renovated and offers each child their own bedroom and a range of communal living spaces including a large garden room which provides recreational facilities for them to create their own activities. This area is designed to encourage creative and sometimes messy projects.

We also have an amazing sensory/calming room with lights, sounds and textures which are used together to create a stimulating, or calming environment. This area can be used to support individuals with planned activities or just to relax.
