The Company

Our client is a well-established UK manufacturer with a strong reputation for quality and innovation within the plumbing and washroom sector. With a heritage spanning over 100 years, they supply a comprehensive range of plumbing products through national and independent merchant networks across the UK. Due to continued growth and an internal restructure, they are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to manage and develop a successful South East territory.

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving sales growth across a well-established territory currently generating significant turnover. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and developing relationships with national and independent plumbing merchants
  • Identifying and securing new business opportunities across the region
  • Promoting a broad portfolio of plumbing, drainage, brassware, washroom and bathroom products
  • Working closely with merchant branch teams, buyers and key stakeholders
  • Increasing product penetration and range distribution within existing accounts
  • Delivering sales growth through both account management and new business development
  • Maintaining market awareness and identifying competitor activity
  • Providing regular sales forecasts and market feedback

The role is field-based and will involve regular customer visits throughout the territory, with occasional overnight stays.

The Candidate

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • Experience selling plumbing, heating, bathroom or related building products
  • A background working for a manufacturer or supplier within the sector
  • Strong knowledge of merchant sales channels
  • Experience managing relationships with both national and independent merchants
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive and commercially driven approach
  • Understanding of routes to market including merchants, contractors, specification and new-build sectors

Package

Basic Salary £50,000 – £55,000 dependent on experience
