With a team of experienced professionals, we specialise in handling no win no fee claims across various service areas, helping individuals and businesses retrieve compensation for financial mis-selling and consumer issues. We are looking for experienced Solicitors to join our teams based in Blackburn.
We are seeking an experienced Housing Disrepair Solicitor to manage a varied caseload of pre- and post-litigation housing conditions claims on behalf of tenants. The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of housing disrepair law, experience running their own matters, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, volume litigation environment. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in a growing department, with scope for progression.
Responsibilities- Manage a caseload of pre- and post-litigation Housing Disrepair claims from inception to settlement or trial.
- Comply with the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions Claims.
- Draft Letters of Claim, pleadings, schedules of special damages, and other court documentation.
- Review housing records and documentation to assess liability and quantum.
- Analyse and review surveyor’s reports for both Claimant and Defendant.
- Conduct negotiations and settlements, including mediation where appropriate.
- Issue court proceedings and liaise with counsel as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files using Proclaim case management software.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring excellent standards of client care at all times.
- Liaise effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, experts, and third parties.
- Contribute to maintaining high service levels, productivity, and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Assist with other duties as required to support the smooth running of the department.
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales).
- Relevant litigation or housing law background essential.
- Minimum 3 years+ PQE with demonstrable experience in Housing Disrepair claims (essential).
- Alternatively, significant experience in contentious civil litigation will be considered.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant housing legislation, including the Landlord & Tenant Act.
- Proven ability to litigate own matters from pre-action through to resolution.
- Experience handling volume litigation and working to deadlines.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and diary management skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build rapport at all levels.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in using Proclaim or similar case management systems.
- Experience in other areas of civil litigation.
- Knowledge of alternative dispute resolution methods.
Full time/ hybrid-working/ salary dependent on experience.
