Overview
Ferryhill, Bishop Auckland, Shildon, Sedgefield, Peterlee, Seaham, Crook/Willington, Meadowfield, Teesdale, Newton Aycliffe. Join the community cast of STEAM for a spectacular outdoor performance celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Stockton & Darlington Railway in Shildon and Stockton. No experience is needed—just energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to be part of something special. We welcome everyone aged 16 and over; those under 16 need to be accompanied by a chaperone.
Community Cast
Performing as part of an ensemble of people from Shildon, Stockton and surrounding areas. The piece tells the origin story of the world’s first passenger railway and the extraordinary people who built it.

Training and Support / Expenses
- Community cast: Learning repertoire and choreography (accessible and accommodating to needs).
- Visual aids and step-by-step videos of repertoire and choreography.
- Travel support.
What to Expect
Perform alongside professional dancers in a large-scale, outdoor show. Be part of a once-in-a-lifetime event marking our region’s proud history. Learn new skills, meet new people, and help create an unforgettable celebration for the SDR200.
Accessibility and Transport
Travel support on a 1 to 1 basis. There will be transport on performance days: Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of September between Shildon and Stockton.
