About the role:
To develop an effective, profitable and compliant daily transport plan and manage fleet resources to ensure business requirements and customer satisfaction is delivered at all times
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review, allocate and schedule jobs for the Roll-on / skip fleet to maximise operational and logistical performance, using the Company\’s planning and operating systems.
- Liaise with drivers on a regular basis throughout the day to ensure effective vehicle resources are available and ensure safe vehicle operations.
- Review and support the optimisation of fleet resources and operations to improve profitability and customer service, assisting Head of Rollons with analysis of Fleet KPIs
- Assist the Head of Rollon with transport activities, including the implementation of road transport compliance policies, standards and procedures.
- Manage team of drivers in line with Company policies and procedures, including, where necessary, assisting with disciplinary matters
- Communicate with internal stakeholders, and external customers as required, to resolve all customer service queries.
- Ensure that all queries within the transport operation are dealt with in a timely manner and in accordance with agreed service level agreements.
- Co-ordinate with fleet workshops (internal and external) over maintenance of vehicle defects raised by drivers
- Input job requests raised via telephone and email accurately onto the AMCS system.
- Liaise with Fleet Compliance team and coordinate the investigation of all road transport accidents.
- Liaise with Health and Safety team and coordinate the investigation of all personal injury accidents, as well as risk assessments of operations and customer sites.
- Ensure that all relevant toolbox talks issued by the Compliance team are delivered to the drivers in line with Company policy.
- Staff have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions at work.
- Staff must co-operate, report unsafe conditions and comply with the company management systems and safe systems of work as well as co-workers to help everyone meet their legal requirements.
About you:
Essentials:
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent people management skills
- Able to prioritise workload and work under pressure.
- Good geographic knowledge of London and the South East.
- Proficient with MS Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Full understanding of driver hours and driving regulations.
- Previous experience in a planning role in a busy transport office environment.
- Experience of dealing with internal and external customers and service providers.
- GCSE grade A-C level education
Desirable:
- Knowledge of AMCS operating systems
- HGV Licence
- Full understanding of the London Lorry Control, ULEZ and Congestion zone rules and regulations.
- Previous experience in the Waste industry
- CPC
- HGV Licence
