About the role:
To direct, advise and, where reasonably required to, assist members of the public in the safe and efficient placing of waste material capable of being re-used, recycled or recovered, in the correctly designated bunker or container at the site.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the safe and efficient placing of waste material capable of being re-used, recycled or recovered (in accordance with instructions provided by the Company) in the correctly designated bunker or container at the site.
Direct, and where reasonably required, assist and advise members of the public in the disposal of their waste within the correct bunker or container at the site.
Act in a courteous and informative way to members of the public, Council officers and visiting contractors to reflect the importance of the sites as a customer facing service on behalf of the London Borough of Bexley.
Ensure the site is kept clean and tidy at all times and to undertake housekeeping tasks allocated to you by your Line Manager.
Maintain a safe working environment throughout your activities, including keeping all public access areas and walkways clear of waste, snow and ice.
Only use designated safe working areas when operating at the site and ensure that you prevent any member of the public entering any area designated for the operation of mobile plant or vehicles.
Check incoming waste material to ensure compliance with the site permit and the Company\’s and the London Borough of Bexley\’s authorised and unauthorised waste policies and procedures.
Immediately report to your Line Manager any:
contamination or non-conforming wastes delivered to site;
accidents, incidents, and near misses;
environmental hazards; and
health & safety breaches.
Ensure appropriate safety equipment and PPE is worn at all times.
Undertake any training necessary to perform other tasks including if suitably qualified to do so the operation of plant and equipment and/or supervisory duties.
Undertake manual handling and sorting activities to assist in reuse, recycling and any other waste management activities on the site including the operation of the weighbridge.
Assist other operatives upon request and when authorised by your Line Manager or the Operations Manager.
Carry out other operational duties where necessary for business continuity at the site.
Ensure the safe and efficient placing of waste material capable of being re-used, recycled or recovered (in accordance with instructions provided by the Company) in the correctly designated bunker or container at the site.
Comply with all Health, Safety, HR, Fleet Compliance, Engineering and Environmental policies and procedures notified to you from time to time.
