Countryside management voluntary vacancies: Ranger posts, including those in greenspace and urban parks and estate workers. You will also find vacancies for countryside officers and rural policy makers. Covers all land management, nature reserve management and working in National Parks.

Residential Volunteer & Guide:

  • Location: Scottish Dolphin Centre, Spey Bay, Moray, IV32 7PJ
  • Pay: Free onsite accommodation in an area of outstanding natural beauty, £35 weekly food budget per person, extensive training.

Whale and Dolphin Conservation’s (WDC’s) vision is of a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free. We are recruiting residential volunteers to join our Scottish Dolphin Centre team, where bottlenose dolphins can be seen regularly along with ospreys, seals and a huge variety of wildlife. Deliver a fun, high-quality visitor experience through interpretation, tours and events. Support the WDC Education Coordinator to deliver talks and outdoor learning. Support the WDC Shorewatch Coordinator with the land based Shorewatch programme. We’re committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment and would like to hear from you, whatever your background, culture, identity, or experiences. We accept overseas volunteers. Most of this role involves community outreach and engaging with visitors rather than field experience. Time: 2 Jun - 2 Oct, volunteering 5 days a week, including weekends.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone aiming for a career in managing and developing a busy urban Nature Reserve, working with committed local volunteers and groups. There is a travel and training allowance of £1500. Training will be provided in many aspects of reserve management and community engagement and can include the gaining of qualifications in relevant skills according to the candidate’s background. An opportunity to gain work experience and training in practical and applied conservation work with a Wildlife Trust in beautiful Herefordshire. This role is unique in offering the postholder the opportunity to work with the ‘Restoring Bartonsham Meadows’ Project, a National Lottery Heritage Funded project run by Herefordshire Wildlife Trust.
