Landmarc Support Services are currently seeking to recruit a Rural Operative to join our dedicated rural team based from Wathgill Camp. In this role you will play a key part in helping to maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train.

Working Hours: Shifts run between 07:30 - 17:30 from Monday to Friday. Hours of work: 37 per week. Contract: Permanent. Location: Wathgill Camp, Wathgill, Richmond, North Yorkshire, DL11 6AH. Interviews to be held: Week commencing 15th June.

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that the Rural Training Estate is fit for purpose in accordance with the Training Estate Support Contract.
  • Operation of rural plant & machinery, including tractors with attachments.
  • General rural estate maintenance: tree works, fencing, strimming, planting, track works, dry stone walling, and other rural tasks.
  • Adherence to Health & Safety procedures, including risk assessments, safe systems of work, manual handling, COSHH requirements.
  • Reporting defects and other reactive maintenance.
  • Completion of all relevant documentation utilising both IT and paper‑based systems.

Essential Knowledge:

  • Experience of working in a rural environment.
  • Experience using Health & Safety processes and risk assessments.
  • A Valid UK Full Driving Licence.
  • Experience operating tractors / plant & machinery.
  • Experience working with chainsaws and other forestry equipment.
  • Experience in rural infrastructure.

Desirable Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • Qualifications in chainsaw operations.
  • Qualifications in operating plant & machinery such as tractors with attachments or machinery used in track works.
  • Qualifications in forestry works / machinery.
