Grade: Band E (£26,987 to £28,310)

Hours: 40 hours per week (including some weekend working)

Location: Bradgate Park, Newtown Linford, Leicester

Bradgate Park and Swithland Wood National Nature Reserve is a unique, wild and rugged landscape with dramatic rocky outcrops and ancient trees. The landscape is home to herds of red and fallow deer, some of the oldest in-situ fossils in the UK, the ruins of one of the most important country houses of Tudor England and many species of locally scarce wildlife.

If you are looking for a hands-on role helping to maintain an amazing landscape whilst also delivering walks, talks and activities for people, look no further! This role is part of a Ranger team who work alongside the Wardens, volunteers and other teams to maintain and improve the park and manage the visitor pressures on it.

With 1,200 acres of incredible green space, a Visitor Centre, Café and amazing historic ruins and monuments, we are looking for a motivated, skilled individual to join the team. As a Ranger, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are key, and we are particularly looking for applicants with chainsaw, forestry and woodland management/tree surgery skills to fill this vacancy within the team.

Ideally, you will also have some of the following skills:

  • Experience in similar roles/estate work
  • Working with volunteers
  • Use of hand and power tools
  • First-aid and other certificates

This role also has the potential to live on site at the Lodge in the centre of the park. Shortlisted applicants will be asked if they are interested in this opportunity.
