Volunteer Content Creator - West Midlands:

We are looking for a creative Content Creator to help produce engaging marketing and promotional materials for our nature reserves and off-reserve projects across the West Midlands, including Staffordshire, Birmingham, and the Black Country.

The role involves filming volunteer activities, nature trails, play trails, and events, then editing footage into short social media videos and longer impact films showcasing our projects and volunteers.

This flexible role is mostly remote, with occasional filming days at sites such as Coombes Valley, Consall Woods, Staffordshire Moorlands, Middleton Lakes, and Sandwell Valley. Travel expenses are covered.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with Europe’s largest conservation charity, build a strong portfolio, access RSPB training, receive line management support, and join a friendly, supportive team.

A laptop can be provided. We’re looking for someone with content creation or video editing experience (paid or unpaid), creativity, and teamwork skills. A commitment of 3-5 days per week for up to 6 months is ideal, but flexibility is available. Driving licence desirable, not essential.

Volunteer Researcher:

Assistant Volunteer:

• Pay: Help BBOWT to share conservation advice and skills, participate in community events and celebrations, and learn new skills through attending talks and events.

BBOWT works in the community to inspire people everywhere and empower them to take action for nature. Our teams organise events and respond to requests to participate in other organisations’ events, such as local fetes, evening talks, guided walks etc.

As an Event Assistant Volunteer, you will support the member of staff who is delivering the event. You would be involved in a wide variety of work for example: chatting with participants about wildlife, car park attendant, making wildflower seed “bombs” with members of the public, helping to set up a talk, plus many other vital tasks involved in event delivery.

No experience or qualifications needed other than an enthusiasm for sharing our mission and a willingness to learn more about wildlife. This is a very social role, so an interest in working with people is required.

Dates/times are varied and sporadic, so we would contact you to request your help when an event is planned in your area.

College Lake Visitor Welcome Volunteer:

We are looking for friendly and engaging volunteers to provide general information to visitors about College Lake including walks, activities, events and wildlife. The role also involves taking a record of how many visitors we have in a day and helping to collect donations to BBOWT.

The role requires experience of, or an interest in customer service and a keen interest in the organisation, College Lake, and neighbouring BBOWT nature reserves, plus a willingness to act as a public face of BBOWT and present a positive image of the Trust to visitors.

We are looking for volunteers who can offer an ongoing and regular commitment including during school holidays and weekends. Full days and shorter shifts available. Time: Various Tuesday to Sunday.

Our Treasurer will work closely with the Finance Manager and Chief Executive Officer, providing financial insight, stewardship, and best-practice advice. As part of the Board of Trustees, you will help set the strategic direction for Tees Valley Wildlife Trust, championing our mission to create wildlife-rich places and wildlife-rich lives across the region.

Time: 4-5 hours per month.

Green Angels Support Volunteer:

• Location: Hassall Green Nature Reserve (HGNR), CW11 4XX
• Pay: Internal training programmes and external training budget, travel expenses.

The Support Volunteer will be based at HGNR and will assist in the hands-on delivery of Green Angels activities, on and off-site activities, committing to a four-month in-depth volunteer placement, ideally 3 days per week.

As the Green Angels Support Volunteer, you will need to be flexible and enjoy mixing with a wide variety of people. You will need to be a practical person who is passionate about the natural world and community engagement.

You will support the delivery of practical, onsite projects and courses and support the Project Officer, trainees, and volunteers to make the most of their experience and time with Green Angels. You will also be required to undertake some digital delivery, e.g., poster creation, social media campaigns etc.

There may be some weekend events and travel involved as Green Angels is delivered at the Hassall Green Nature Reserve and has the potential to encompass some activities in the local community.

Ideally you will have good organisation and time management skills, the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. You will gain experience in practical nature conservation, group leadership & volunteer management, project planning, marketing & promotion.

Residential Volunteering Opportunities:

We have an opportunity for you to live and breathe this wonderful reserve. Accommodation is free to all residential volunteers and we are open to people looking to stay for 1-4 weeks, 1-2 months or 6-12 months to get the most out of their time on the reserve.

We have a variety of roles available from visitor experience to practical conservation. The 6 month role is aimed at people looking to enter the field.

Whichever role you would prefer to do, we can guarantee you will be immersed in this fantastic reserve with much of the reserve to yourself once the main gates are closed each evening.

Lee Valley Regional Park Authority are looking for volunteers to help introduce people to the delights of their new flagship Visitor Centre at Fishers Green within the River Lee Country Park.

The Wildlife Discovery Centre team are looking for more volunteers to help welcome the public into this fantastic facility 7 days a week.

There are three sections to the building: Discovery Room, Bittern Hide and the Tower. The Centre is open from 10:00 to 16:00 with two volunteer shifts available each day, 10:00 to 13:00 and 13:00 to 16:00.

Several opportunities exist for volunteers to help in our busy seasonal visitor centres at Cley Marshes, Holme Dunes, Hickling Broad & Ranworth Broad, all of which are fabulous locations. You will be the welcoming face of NWT, sharing your enthusiasm, handling money & promoting our work.

They are open 7 days a week, so there are a variety of flexible roles to fit into the rotas, including regular commitments or more occasional cover, with a particular need for weekends & school holidays.
