Overview
Ecosupport Ltd are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team. You will play a key role in producing high‑quality spatial outputs, including habitat maps, BNG baseline and post‑intervention maps, and protected species mapping, using QGIS as your primary tool.
Working closely with our Project and Senior Ecologists, you will help translate field data into accurate, professional GIS deliverables that underpin ecological assessments and reporting. Full training is provided however existing experience is desirable, and the role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical GIS skills within a supportive consultancy environment.
Ecosupport Ltd are Lee‑on‑Solent, Hampshire, based with travel throughout the region and surrounding counties. Although primarily office‑based, there will be opportunities to assist with fieldwork where required, including field surveys.
Responsibilities
- Independently produce ecological maps including UKHabs, Biodiversity Net Gain pre and post-development maps, and other protected species figures
- Organise, manage, and prepare mapping requirements for Project and Senior Ecologists
- Assist with technical analysis, such as map‑based constraints and habitat classification
- Prepare clear, professional figures for reports
- Have strong communication skill to liaise with colleagues and clients where necessary
- Support ecological surveys within the field if required
- Potentially use your own car for site visits, with mileage and business insurance claimed back (should the pool of Ecosupport Ltd cars be in use)
Qualifications
- Relevant degree in a related field
- Have competent knowledge of GIS mapping softwares, including QGIS
- Understanding of UKHabs, Phase 1, and Biodiversity Net Gain habitat classifications
- Familiarity with ecological survey data and terminology
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow structured mapping workflows
- Strong communication, organisational, and team working skills as well as a positive attitude, self‑disciplined, and a desire to learn and be challenged
- A full drivers licence (to assist with fieldwork, if required)

Salary
Salary at 29k - 32k per annum, depending on experience (with opportunities for overtime / additional pay)
