Job Overview: We are looking for a Countryside Ranger for the exciting new Ridgetop Park site in Matford, near Exeter. This site is a Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) and is designed to absorb some of the visitor pressure from the Exe Estuary and Dawlish Warren internationally protected nature sites.
Responsibilities:
- Manage diverse practical estate, habitat management and access maintenance work at Ridgetop Park.
- Work within the wider district team across diverse countryside parks and nature reserves.
- Carry out physically demanding site management works, adapting to all terrains and weather conditions (PPE supplied).
- Engage in community outreach to raise the site profile and attract visitors.
- Plan and lead public events and activities, including preparing posters, risk assessments, and mailing lists.
- Maintain links with key stakeholders and external organisations via Outlook and Teams.
- Collaborate with the team to achieve Teignbridge’s vision of a healthy, desirable place to live, work and visit.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Full valid driving licence.
- Suitable countryside management qualification.
- Strong practical habitat management experience and skills.
- Physical fitness to access all terrains and perform practical site management.
- Positive, can-do attitude, flexible approach and willingness to work in all weathers.
- Excellent regard for personal and others’ safety.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- ICT skills: event poster preparation, risk assessment, mailing lists, Outlook, Teams.
