The predicted salary is between 22800 - 25200 £ per year.
We are looking for a Wildfire Engagement Officer to help us work in partnership with the Eastern Moors Partnership, acting as a presence on the eastern edges of the Peak District National Park to reduce and report fire risk and to increase wildfire awareness.
You will be responsible for carrying out wildfire patrols, monitoring and reporting issues, and some practical work. You will also create mobile content for social media to raise awareness of your role and look after the National Park.
The post holder will be required to work 50% of weekends and in the evenings up to 10pm when there is a high fire risk. This is a fixed-term post until the 31st October 2026.
About You
You will need to be able to communicate effectively with the public and a range of stakeholders. You will have experience of engaging with members of the public, sometimes in difficult circumstances, and have conflict awareness training or experience. You will have fell and moorland navigation experience and training, along with the ability to identify moorland vegetation types and an understanding of designations and access legislation. You will be able and willing to work alone and will have experience and knowledge of health and safety and safeguarding policies and procedures. You will also have the ability and willingness to create social media content using a mobile phone.
