Great engineering programmes don't succeed through technical excellence alone; they succeed because the right decisions are made, the right resources are available, and the right priorities are aligned. At Aston Martin, we're looking for a Functional Business Manager to become a key strategic partner within our Software & Electronics Engineering function, helping to shape how we plan, govern, and deliver some of the most important engineering programmes across the business.
This role sits at the centre of engineering, programme delivery, and business operations. You'll work closely with senior leaders to ensure resources, budgets, priorities, and strategic objectives remain aligned, enabling teams to focus on delivering world-class products while maintaining control of cost, capacity, and programme commitments. As the senior interface between Engineering and the Engineering Business Office, you'll provide the operational leadership, business insight, and forward planning needed to support successful programme execution.
Whether you're leading governance forums, driving resource planning, managing budgets, tracking programme performance, or identifying future risks and opportunities, you'll play a critical role in helping Aston Martin make informed, confident decisions. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys operating at both a strategic and operational level. Someone who can analyse data, challenge assumptions, influence stakeholders, and translate complexity into clear actions.
You'll collaborate with teams across Engineering, Finance, Purchasing, Programme Management, Design, IT, and Planning, building strong relationships and helping drive alignment across multiple business priorities. We're looking for someone who brings significant experience within an OEM, automotive consultancy, or a similarly complex product development environment. A strong understanding of automotive product creation and engineering delivery is essential, as you'll be expected to operate confidently within programme and engineering functions from day one.
You'll have experience coordinating cross-functional teams, leading business planning activities, and supporting decision-making through robust data analysis and reporting. You'll be comfortable managing budgets, resource planning, and programme priorities whilst maintaining a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency. Just as importantly, you'll be a confident leader and communicator. You'll have the credibility to influence senior stakeholders, present with impact, and bring people together around a common goal.
You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate resilience when priorities shift, and possess the commercial awareness needed to balance engineering ambition with business objectives. Success in this role requires someone who is highly organised, data-driven, and passionate about product and programme delivery. If you're motivated by solving complex challenges, driving operational excellence, and helping engineering teams perform at their best, you'll find genuine purpose and impact in this role.
Based in Gaydon, this position will involve occasional travel to other Aston Martin locations, and therefore a valid driving licence is essential. This is more than a business management role. It's an opportunity to influence how engineering programmes are planned, funded, and delivered across one of the world's most iconic luxury automotive brands. Your work will help ensure Aston Martin continues to deliver exceptional products while building the foundations for future success.
At Aston Martin, we believe that the stunning beauty, craftsmanship, and artistry that define our brand come from the diverse voices and talents of our extraordinary team. We are committed to fostering a culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. Your unique perspectives, shaped by your education, culture, ethnicity, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, abilities, and more, are what make us stronger and more innovative. We celebrate the richness of diversity and actively seek individuals who bring something new to the table. If you require any accommodations or support during the application process, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to ensure that you can bring your best, in every way. Let’s build something remarkable together.
The post holder will be required to comply with all policies and procedures issued by and on behalf of Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd.
