The Duty Manager is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of The Hope & Anchor. The role involves leading the team on shift, working full time, delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring high standards of service, cleanliness, and compliance across the business. This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident managing busy services and acting as the senior point of contact on duty.
Key Responsibilities:- Take responsibility for the operation of The Hope & Anchor during allocated shifts
- Deliver consistently high standards of customer service
- Oversee food and drink service to ensure quality, speed, and consistency
- Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally and efficiently
- Open and close the premises in line with company procedures
- Lead, motivate, and supervise team members on shift
- Allocate duties, manage breaks, and ensure effective shift coverage
- Support training, onboarding, and development of staff
- Ensure adherence to company policies and service standards
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, food hygiene, and licensing regulations
- Enforce Challenge 25 and responsible alcohol service
- Complete required checks, logs, and incident reports
- Act as the responsible manager on duty during incidents or emergencies
- Oversee cash handling, tills, and end-of-shift procedures
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or issues
- Support stock deliveries and stock rotation where required
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the venue
- Ensure The Hope & Anchor presents a welcoming, professional environment at all times
- Previous supervisory or management experience in hospitality
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent customer service focus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
