Lanes Group, a leading independent specialist infrastructure delivery partner, is recruiting a Mobile Fitter Engineer to support the Southern Water area.
Position: Mobile Mechanic (HGV Field Service Engineer)
Location: Based out of the Millbrook depot (Southampton, Hampshire) but travelling across Kent, Sussex and the Isle of Wight.
Job Type: Permanent, full‑time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 Hours
Salary: up to £55,000 per annum (basic pay + overtime + on‑call allowance + bonuses)

Responsibilities:
- Maintain the fleet of vehicles (small vans to HGVs) ensuring optimal performance of hydraulic and high‑pressure jetting systems.
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic components and jetting equipment.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies involving hydraulic systems, providing on‑site repairs to minimise downtime.
- Utilise diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and rectify technical issues.
- Analyse recurring problems and collaborate with the wider team to implement preventive measures.
- Stay up‑to‑date with relevant legislation and industry standards; ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with health and safety regulations, environmental standards and industry best practices.
- Promote safe working practices among the team in line with legal requirements.
- Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Hard‑working, respectful and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Strong background in commercial HGV vehicle servicing.
- Class B Driving Licence and fully recognised industry qualifications (City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Class C+E / HGV Class 2 Driver’s Licence (essential).
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications useful.
- Previous water‑industry experience preferred; hydraulics experience desirable.
