About The Role

We are seeking a HGV Highways Operative to join our team on our Highways workstream. You will be working closely with another Highways Operative to clean along the highways. This could include Gully cleaning and highway drainage cleaning.

  • Location: Penrith, Cumbria
  • Hours: 50 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 6am-4pm day shift however flexibility is required if night shifts need to be covered
  • Salary: Up to Β£35,750 dependent on experience
  • Weekly Pay

Responsibilities

  • Training will be provided to drive and operate a Gully unit, Urban Recycler and Recycler as these are the types of vehicles that are used on the Highways contract.
  • Work closely with our Traffic Management department planning routes along the highways
  • Inspect drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks, or damage that could hinder water flow.
  • Use the high-powered suction equipment to remove debris, silt, leaves, and waste from gullies.
  • Maintain and operate the vehicles associated machinery, including pumps, hoses, and suction equipment.
  • Competent in using an electronic device – laptop / tablet for data entry purposes
  • Ensuring safety issues are reported in line with company procedures
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of high-powered suction equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.
  • Part of your role as a Highways operative will be to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and safe to use at start of shift.

Requirements For The Role

  • HGV Class 2 licence (required)
  • Drivers licence is mandatory with no more than 6 penalty points

Desirable

  • Competent in IT, accurate data entry
  • Team player
  • Positive, can-do attitude

*Full training required or a level of competency in the following: Jetting/SLG/First Aid/Manual Handling/Confined Spaces.*
