Hours: Days/Nights 41.25 Hours per week working weekends per rota (Shift Times 07.45-20.00 x3 shifts and 09.00-17.00 x1 shift)
Selwood House Care Home located in Charlton Down near Dorchester accommodates up to 84 residents, and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to cater for various care needs. Specialising in residential care, dementia care, and short-term respite care, Selwood House will provide a warm welcome as soon as you set foot through the door.
ABOUT THE DEPUTY MANAGER ROLE
Within your role as the Deputy Care Manager you can really make a difference to our residents’ lives. Here are some of the responsibilities:
- Responsible for monitoring standards of care delivered by qualified and unqualified care staff.
- Prepare the staff duty rota to ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times.
- Responsible for monitoring the wellbeing of each resident, being aware of any change impacting on care and care plans, ensuring that new needs are met, and written records are amended to reflect any variation.
- Act as a focal point for contact with residents, their relatives and visitors, as well as health and social care professionals involved in their wellbeing, ensuring that any reasonable requests are acted upon and concerns or complaints are promptly investigated and dealt with appropriately.
- Liaise with the Home Manager across the range of operational activity to be able to assume responsibility for managing the Home during the manager’s scheduled and unscheduled absences.
- Contribute fully to team working, responding positively to colleagues and action all reasonable work instructions promptly.

ABOUT YOU
You will support the Home Manager across all aspects of Home Management, providing a safe, caring, stimulating and homely environment for residents and their visitors, so we would love to hear from those who really do want to make a difference to people’s lives:
- You will already be a Deputy Manager or have at least 2 years’ experience as a Team Leader in Care.
- Have strong leadership skills & are highly motivated.
- Able to engage well with the residents and their families.
- Have strong written & verbal communication skills.
- Experience of working with people with Dementia.
- Have an NVQ Level 5 is a great advantage or be willing to work towards this.
