Countesthorpe Academy is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work at our LiFE Multi-Academy Trust, starting on Friday 21st August 2026. This is a challenging role that requires energy, enthusiasm, and a willingness to work hard. The successful applicant will join a strong and committed team in the Cover Department.
The role involves:
- Being solely responsible for a class of students in the absence of a teacher, ensuring engagement in learning activities set by the teacher.
- Effectively managing instances of poor behaviour and any immediate issues or emergencies in accordance with school policy.
- Supporting students with literacy, numeracy, and organisational skills.
- Liaising with teachers regarding work set for a class and ensuring you are equipped to supervise the assigned lesson.
- Providing feedback to the class teacher on pupil engagement and any issues that arise during covered lessons.
- Helping prepare and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with lesson plans.
- Contributing to the development and review of relevant policies.
- Assisting in the evaluation of the impact of covered lessons on pupils.
- Promoting positive behaviour and relationships using effective strategies.
- Assisting with the organisation of cover for absent colleagues.
- Creating and maintaining curriculum resources and visual displays.
- Undertaking administrative duties relevant to the role.
- Invigilating internal and external tests and examinations under formal conditions.
