Job overview
Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, hardworking registered Pharmacy Technician to support the use of medicines on the wards in terms of medication histories, re-use of patients own drugs and reducing medicines waste. You will contribute to the efficient discharge of patients by ensuring they have the medicines they need when they are discharged, and understand how to take them.
Main duties of the job
- To pro-actively support the delivery of pharmaceutical care on wards through supporting ward staff in managing medicines and through medicines reconciliation with patients.
- To assess the suitability of the use of patient’s own medication, ensuring patients consent to use their medication whilst in hospital and to arrange the efficient and prompt supply of medicines to the wards.
- To assess patients for compliance aids, and refer patients with compliance issues to the appropriate health care professional.
- To dispense and/or perform a ‘final’ accuracy check in accordance with Trust procedures on prescriptions and orders that have been previously clinically checked by a pharmacist, in accordance with the agreed safe systems of work practice and current medicines legislation. This includes all types of prescriptions and orders handled by the Pharmacy Dispensary.
