Job overview

Working Full Time: 10 sessions per week. Applications are invited for a new Consultant post in General Surgery. The successful candidate will be a full-time appointment in General & Colorectal Surgery. In addition to the management of general surgical cases, the department of colorectal surgery deals with approximately - new cases of colorectal cancer per year, in addition to all other aspects of benign colorectal disease. We would welcome further discussion with any interested candidates and would be pleased to arrange a visit to the Department for you.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would be expected to complement our existing team of consultants and integrate within our team to provide a complete General Surgery service. The successful candidate will be expected to have a sub-specialty interest in Colorectal Surgery of which expertise in management of advanced colorectal cancer and clinical/academic research are highly desirable. In addition to the management of general surgical cases and participation in a Consultant Surgeon of the Week (CSOW) rota, the department deals with the full range of colorectal surgery including benign proctology, pelvic floor and inflammatory bowel disorders. All consultants are expected to participate in the on-call rota (1 in 11 following appointment).
