Are you an experienced Nurse with the flexibility, initiative, dynamism, clinical skills, motivation with a keen interest in Ophthalmology and improving patient care? We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist in Ophthalmology who has knowledge of current research and professional issues relating to the specialty to be a part of our large Multidisciplinary Team.

Hours will be worked over Monday-Friday.

As a senior member of the Nursing Team, you will be expected to:

  • Co-ordinate the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate programmes of care for patients requiring ophthalmic care.
  • Act as a role model for nursing and non-nursing staff.
  • Work with the Multidisciplinary Team ensuring a high standard of holistic care is maintained for all patients and families.
  • Practice autonomously as an Ophthalmic Clinical Nurse Specialist within the department.
  • Assess, organise and prioritise care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team with minimal supervision.
  • Set standards of practice while promoting clinical expertise.

The Trust's services are provided from three locations:

  • The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds.
  • Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.
  • Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
