Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week. An opportunity has arisen to join our CT and IR teams at The Countess of Chester Hospital. In CT there are 4 Canon CT scanners: 3 at the Countess and 1 at our Community Diagnostic Hub in Ellesmere Port Hospital. We have a well‑established cardiac CT service and strong links with the cardiology, stroke and trauma teams. The Countess of Chester Hospital is a recognised trauma unit. IR has recently had a new theatre installed, with a 2nd coming soon. IR is the Regional Vascular Centre and performs a wide range of vascular and non‑vascular procedures. IR provides a radiographer‑led PICC line service and also has an advanced practitioner who performs drain exchanges. Experience in CT/IR in an acute NHS trust is essential. Full training will be provided. A requirement to work weekends and participate in the out‑of‑hours service in CT and an on‑call service in IR will apply. The role also requires working across both sites at the Countess of Chester and Ellesmere Port Hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high‑quality images across the spectrum of CT and IR examinations.
  • Manage and support the band 5 radiographers and students.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the CT and IR service.
  • Be responsible for the standards of care provided within the CT and IR departments.
  • In collaboration with the line manager, ensure resources are monitored and tailored to meet the needs of the service within the constraints of a financial budget.
  • Promote education and training within CT and IR.
  • Keep up to date competency records.
  • Actively participate in CPD.
  • Provide a 24/7 service to support the hospital to enable a consistently safe and efficient CT and IR service.

Qualifications

BSc/DCR in radiography is essential and you must be registered with the HCPC.

Locations

The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds. Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility. Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
