Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking a dynamic Category Buyer to join our team. The role reports to the Senior Category Manager and supports the Trust\’s Cost Improvement Programme and Cash Releasing Savings Strategy.

The Category Buyer will:

  • Maximize benefits from Trust expenditure on goods and services by seeking value, reliability, responsiveness, and innovation from suppliers.
  • Identify cost savings, add value, and ensure probity through contracting and performance monitoring.
  • Manage procurement projects proactively and deliver initiatives.
  • Make autonomous financial recommendations complying with financial instructions and delegation schemes.
  • Prepare briefing papers for the Procurement Manager and stakeholders to align actions with the Trust\’s objectives.

Assist in delivering the Trust\’s Cost Improvement Programme through procurement projects and tenders up to above threshold levels.

Manage projects supporting the department’s annual work plan, ensuring timely and effective completion in line with financial instructions and legislation.

Engage with internal and external customers, maintaining high-quality service standards.

Provide professional advice to clinicians and managers on commercial activities, ensuring understanding of legal and procedural requirements.

Conduct complex procurement exercises, interpreting specifications and ensuring appropriate awarding of contracts.

Deliver procurement process reports, adhering to policies, procedures, and legislation.
