Overview
Advanced Occupational Therapist – Orthopaedics. Are you looking for a new challenge? We have an opportunity for a dynamic, forward thinking and innovative Occupational Therapist to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Therapy Team at the Countess of Chester Hospital. The team consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants. The post holder will have opportunity to work across trauma, elective and day case surgery and will be responsible for overseeing the supervision and development of the OT’s and therapy assistants within the team.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment, treatment and discharge planning to a wide variety of Orthopaedic inpatients, including contributing to the ongoing development of the service provision on the hip fracture unit.
- Play a significant role in contributing to the progression of pathways and patient information across the trauma side of the service, and lead on a project to review the current pre‑assessment provision for Elective patients.
- Drive the OT service and oversee supervision and development of OT staff and therapy assistants within the team.
- Be an active member of the Orthopaedic weekend rota. Full-time; part-time hours would be considered.
- This post would suit an experienced band 6 looking to specialise in orthopaedics and potentially transition to a band 7 role.

Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust serves West Cheshire and Welsh patients; three locations: Countess of Chester Hospital (438 beds), Ellesmere Port Hospital (56 beds), Tarporley War Memorial Hospital (community services). The Trust collaborates within the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership.
